ABOUT URG: UBMS RESEARCH GROUP

UBMS Research Group was formed to sustain research in bridge management systems. Post enhancements in IBMS which resulted in UBMS, it was deemed essential to further enhance the system to integrate the most innovative technologies that were emerging on the horizon. Technologies like videography using UAV/ Drones, use of photogrammetry tools to create 3D models, creation of partial or full bridge 3D model using UBMS data, partial usage of Bridge Information models, Structural Health Monitoring were all deemed essential to be incorporated within the domain of Bridge Management.

UBMS Research Group was born out of this necessity. Within few months of formation, we have integrated most of the technologies and now we turn our focus on Conversion of ANALYTICS OF UBMS to suit usage in other Countries.

URG has evolved GLOBAL ANALYTICS FOR BRIDGE MANAGEMENT [GABM] which has universal application.

WHAT INNOVATIONS TECHNOLOGIES INTEGRATED IN GABM PROVIDE:

    • ✔ GABM is not just a technology innovation within BMS. GABM application has been evolved with the aim to ensure that the micro bridge inventory owners are able to use the application without any difficulties. The primary theme revolves around the transition from symptom-based to cause-based deterioration models, leveraging Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) data and photogrammetry tools to enhance distress identification. The integration of automated data capture, short-duration SHM, and analytics is highlighted for efficient fund allocation.

    •
    • ✔ GABM Empowering micro-owners to implement BMS. The research collectively underscores the significance of integrating SHM data with Bridge Management Systems (BMS), representing a significant advancement in ensuring the sustainability and resilience of bridge infrastructure. This integration facilitates real-time data-driven decision-making and shifts the focus towards performance-based deterioration models.

    •
    • ✔ GABM combines ease of use, compliments it by being very cost efficient. The proposal to incorporate Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) within the Global Analytics for Bridge Management [GABM] is presented as a means to optimize sustainability without compromising economic growth. LCCA evaluates tangible and intangible benefits and costs, contributing to a more informed and responsible bridge management.

    •
    • ✔ Holistic Risk Assessment with GABM: The research introduces the Global Analytics for Bridge Management (GABM), a cost-effective solution for managing evolving risks associated with climate change. GABM leverages comprehensive data on hazard occurrences, intensity, frequency, bridge location, condition, and vulnerability. It employs mathematical models for quantitative risk assessment, empowering informed resource allocation and enhancing infrastructure safety and resilience.

    •
    • ✔ GABM has eliminated the requirement of internet, cloud servers, cloud storage systems and exhaustive engineering manpower. Resulting in very cost efficient system to manage the bridges for the bridge owners with minimal bridge inventory

    •
    • ✔ GABM Integrated BMS with innovative diverse technologies of the future for a fraction of the cost of conventional bridge management.
